Spring has finally arrived, and Orondo students and staff Eagles are soaring high as we reflect on the wonderful school year we have had so far and the many awe-inspiring things in store. There is much to be thankful for and look forward to as we spring ahead into the end of the school year!

I am so grateful to be able to serve as your superintendent. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the continued support you show us as a community for our students here in Orondo. I hope you enjoy this newsletter as you dive into some of the highlights of our past season and things to come.

2024-2025 Celebrations

Early Learning Center Construction

We are incredibly grateful to have received a Department of Commerce grant to renovate the basement of our Old School House to expand our early learning programs and offerings.

Construction is well underway and a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held in the fall - stay tuned on more information on the ceremony!

The Orondo School District offers free preschool to three and four year olds so please spread the word! Please call or stop by the school office to receive an enrollment packet.

New Bus Turnaround Underway

Big safety improvements are on the way! Construction started in April on our new bus turnaround loop, funded by state and transportation grants.

Additional Support for Students Without Stable Housing

We received a Homeless Stabilization Grant to better support students without homes or stable housing, helping meet their basic needs and ensure their success in school.

Our Gym Got a Big Refresh

We replaced the gym floor and bleachers, and added a new sound system for PE classes. These upgrades were made possible by two grants focused on student health and ADA improvements.

Sneak Peek at the 2025-2026 School Year

Late Start Mondays Starting Next Year

Starting in Fall 2025, OSD will have a one-hour late start every Monday for students. This time will allow our staff to learn and collaborate with support from professional experts during our training days. Late start Mondays will also align with schedules in some of our neighboring districts, which we hope will make mornings easier for families with older students.

Parent and Community Leadership Volunteer Program

We are launching a parent and community leadership program and we need you! We’re looking for parent and community volunteers to support clubs and after-school activities in the 2025-2026 school year. Do you have any talents or abilities that you would love to share with our students? Please contact the school office to let us know!

Professional Learning for OSD Staff to Support Multilingual Learners

OSD is partnering with Methow Valley and Palisades School Districts to engage in professional learning for our staff to better support our multilingual learners. Dr. Maria Dove, a leading expert in this topic, will guide the district in implementing this learning to support OSD students in the 2025-2026 school year.

New OSD Website

OSD has updated the school website so it is a useful resource for families, students, and community members. This will help everyone stay informed about what’s happening in our schools.
