The Orondo School District is excited to share updates on our Outdoor Education and Summer Programs, made possible through the 21st Century Community Learning Centers  grant, now in its second year of a five-year cycle.
Outdoor Education Highlights
Our partnerships with the Wenatchee River Institute (WRI) and Washington State University (WSU) 4-H Extension continue to enrich our students' learning experiences.
Bird Watching and Art
Students participated in bird-watching activities and entered the 2025 Bird Fest Youth Art Contest. Their artwork is showcased on the WRI website.
Outdoor Career Exploration
WSU 4-H educators introduced students to various career paths in the outdoor sector, including environmental science, conservation, and recreation management.
Ski Lessons
From February through April, students attended ski lessons at Mission Ridge Ski Resort during Friday School sessions.
Other Field Trips
Students also golfed at Desert Canyon, attended performances at the Performing Arts Center, and participated in a soccer camp.
It’s Time to Start Thinking About Summer!
Our Summer School program will run from late June through July, operating Monday through Thursday. Students will enjoy weekly field trips to locations such as Ohme Gardens, a local fire station, and two weekday camps in Leavenworth at the Wenatchee River Institute. Additional activities include a field day at Walla Walla Park, along with various indoor and outdoor educational experiences.
To support academic readiness, students will receive hands-on assistance from school-day teachers, helping them prepare for the upcoming school year.
